Kathy McIntosh brings her unique, energetic and humorous perspective on life to
every presentation. She combines her knack for interactive and entertaining presentations with
practical, usable tips that help people improve their personal and professional lives.
As J.R.R. Tolkien said in The Fellowship of the Ring, “Not all those that wander are lost.”
Kathy considers herself a wanderer who has found gold in a lifetime of varied experience.
She was a co-founder of Healthwise, a Boise nonprofit that helps people make intelligent
health care decisions. Kathy co-wrote the original book and wrote the first training manual
for health providers who taught Healthwise classes and produced the program’s first
television series later used as classroom aids.
Ms. McIntosh served as Communications Manager for the Idaho Office of Energy during the
energy crisis before becoming the Executive Director of the Idaho Private Industry Council.
After obtaining an MBA in Marketing, Kathy worked as a product manager for Xerox and a customer
support engineer for Hewlett-Packard, and as the manager of corporate communications at
Cougar Mountain Software.
Ms. McIntosh has been an adjunct professor for Dowling College and for Boise State University.
She’s also spent time in retail appliance sales, as a bank teller and as a waitress. Kathy
earned a bachelor’s degree in literature from The College of Idaho and an MBA in Marketing
from the Anderson School at UCLA.
As founder/owner of A Well-Placed Word, Kathy works with individuals and organizations to
increase the effectiveness of their messages by using the right word, every time.
She writes comic mystery fiction and non-fiction.
Kathy is truly a witty, caring woman of words.
